What is WhichDraft.com?
WhichDraft.com is a self-directed legal resource that allows users to build a variety of high quality contracts free of charge. Users build contracts by answering a series of simple questions. WhichDraft.com then provides suggested contractual provisions that reflect users answers to these questions. Users can also share contracts with others so that they can collaborate in building or negotiating the contracts. WhichDraft.com users can assess an ever-expanding selection of contracts that address a variety of business and personal legal needs.

WhichDraft.com is not an attorney and does not provide legal advice. WhichDraft.com is a self-directed legal resource that allows users to build contracts by answering a series of simple questions. WhichDraft.com then provides suggested contractual provisions that reflect users' answers to these questions. WhichDraft.com does not review users' individual needs and recommends that all users consult with a qualified attorney before finalizing and/or signing any contracts built on WhichDraft.com.

How do I build a contract?
From the WhichDraft.com homepage, log in to your Whichdraft.com User Account using your Email Address and Password (if you don't have a WhichDraft.com User Account, click here to learn how to get one). Once you are logged in, click the "Find Contracts" button that appears in the navigation bar directly below the WhichDraft.com banner. On the Find Contracts page, browse our constantly expanding selection of contracts, find the contract that you are looking for by pointing your mouse over the name of the contract to read a description of that contract, and click the contract name to open the Build Contract page and get started building your contract.

Once you have clicked on your contract and are on the Build Contract page, you just have to complete two simple steps to build your contract. First, enter your name or your company's name, as applicable, and contact information under Party 1 (You) and the name and contact information of the other party to the contract under Party 2 (Them). Second, scroll down and answer a series of simple questions that allow you to customize your contract. The complete text of your contract appears in the word processor window to the right of the questions and, as you answer each question, the text of the contract itself will update based on your answer to each question. To advance to the next question (or to go back to a previous question) use the forward and back arrow buttons that appear above each question. A brief explanation of each question appears below the question. Once you have answered all the questions for your contract, you have finished building your contract!

How do I share a contract with someone else so we can review it together?
Sharing a contract with someone else is easy. Simply click the "Share" button that appears in the toolbar above the text of your contract. A pop-up window will appear prompting you to enter the name and e-mail address of the person with whom you want to share your contract. Make sure to enter the correct e-mail address and click the "Send It!" button. WhichDraft.com will send an email to the e-mail address you provided with a link inviting the recipient to access the contract you have shared.

Someone has shared a contract with me. How do I access it?
To access a contract someone has shared with you, you must first open the e-mail that WhichDraft.com sent you to notify you that someone has shared a contract with you. Click on the link in the e-mail. If you are currently logged in to WhichDraft.com, the link will take you to your Saved Contracts page. If you are not currently logged in to WhichDraft.com, the link will take you to the WhichDraft.com homepage and you must log in using your Email Address and Password. Once you log in, you will be taken to your Saved Contracts Page.

Once you have reached your Saved Contracts page, scroll down and the contract that was shared with you will appear below the “Contracts Shared With Me” heading. You can view, edit, print, e-mail or download the contract by clicking the related buttons that appear below the name of the contract that has been shared with you.

Can I directly edit the text of a contract?
Yes. To directly edit the text of a contract you are building, simply click anywhere in the text of the contract that appears in the word processor window to the right of the questions. You can add to, edit, delete or change the formatting of the text of the contract using your keyboard and the word processing toolbar that appears in the word processor window.

Once I’ve started building a contract, can I save my progress?
Yes, you can save your progress at any point while building a contract. Simply click the "Save So Far" button that appears in the toolbar above the text of your contract and you can now access the contract later and continue building the contract from the point where you left off.

Once I’ve finished building a contract, how do I save it?
Once you have answered all the questions for your contract, click the "I Am Finished" button that appears above the text of your contract. You will be directed to a page to enter a description of the contract so that you can easily locate the contract from among all of your saved contracts.

What if I want to save a contract to my computer?
On the “Saved Contracts” page, click the “Download” button under the contract name and save the contract to your hard drive.

How do I email a copy of a contract to someone else?
Simply click the "Email" button that appears in the toolbar above the text of your contract. A pop-up window will appear prompting you to enter the name and e-mail address of the person to whom you want to e-mail your contract as well as a subject for the e-mail and a message to appear in the e-mail. Make sure to enter the correct e-mail address and click the "Send It!" button. WhichDraft.com will send an email to the e-mail address you provided with and a copy of your contract in Microsoft Word format will be attached to the e-mail. You can also click “Email” under the contract name on the “Saved Contracts” page.

How do I view a contract I’m building to see how it will look when printed?
Click the "View" button that appears in the toolbar above the text of your contract. A new browser window will open and you can see exactly how your contract will look when you print it. You can also click “View” on the “Saved Contracts” page.

How do I print a contract?
Click the "Print" button that appears in the toolbar above the text of your contract. A new browser window will open containing a printable version of your contract as well as a pop-up window from which you can select the appropriate printer, the number of copies you want, or set print ranges. Click the "Print" button to print your contract. You can also click “Print” on the “Saved Contracts” page.

How do I make comments to a contract? Once I’ve made a comment, where does it appear?
To make comments to a contract, simply click the "Add Comments" button that appears below the brief explanation for each question. A pop-up window will appear; type in the text of your comment and click the "Post Comment" button to post your comment. Once you have posted your comment, it will appear below your contract.

How do I access the contracts I’ve saved? Can I edit a contract that I saved previously?
To access your saved contracts, log in to WhichDraft.com using your Email Address and Password. Once you have logged in, click on “View My Saved Contracts” in the user menu on the right side of the page or click the “Saved Contracts” link directly below the WhichDraft.com banner to navigate to the Saved Contracts page. All of your saved contracts will appear on the Saved Contracts page. To edit a saved contract, simply click the “Edit” button that appears below the name of the particular saved contract you wish to edit.

I’ve finished building a contract and negotiating it with the other party. What’s next?
WhichDraft.com recommends that you consult with a qualified attorney before finalizing and signing your contract.

What do I need to do to start using WhichDraft.com?
It’s simple – all you need to do to starting using WhichDraft.com is become a registered user. WhichDraft.com does not charge its users to use any of the features currently available on the site. To register, simply complete the short registration form that appears under “Sign Up Now” on any of the pages on the WhichDraft.com site. Once you submit the registration form, WhichDraft.com will send you an email with a link to activate your account. Once your account is activated, you can start using WhichDraft.com today!

How do I edit my user profile?
First, log in to WhichDraft.com using your Email Address and Password. Once you have logged in, click “Edit My Profile” in the user menu on the right of the page to navigate to the Edit User Profile page. On the Edit User Profile page, you can change your stored e-mail address and password, as well as store your contact and company information. WhichDraft.com will use your stored contact and company information to automatically populate the Party 1 (You) fields when building a contract, allowing you to avoid inputting that information each time you build a contract and build contracts much more quickly.

How can WhichDraft.com offer contracts free of charge?
WhichDraft.com anticipates deriving revenue from advertising. In the future, WhichDraft.com may offer premium services above and beyond those currently available on the site in exchange for a fee.

How do I know that the contracts available on WhichDraft.com are of high quality?

To see a list of contracts that you can build on WhichDraft.com, simply click the "Find Contracts" button in the navigation bar that appears directly below the WhichDraft.com banner. We are constantly working to expand our selection of available contracts. We anticipate our selection will include a large number of contracts to address a variety of business and personal legal needs.

What if WhichDraft.com does not offer a contract I need?
If a contract you need is currently not available on WhichDraft.com, send us an email at requests@whichdraft.com and we will see what we can do to make that contract available to WhichDraft.com users.
